He grew up in Salisbury, NC, and graduated from Wake Forest University in Winston Salem, NC, with a Bachelor of Arts Degree. He has lived and worked in the San Francisco Bay Area since 1982. His Master's Degree is in Counseling Psychology from John F. Kennedy University where he taught as an adjunct faculty member. He also has taught as an Associate Profession at the California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco. He now practices psychotherapy and lives in the Walnut Creek, CA (San Francisco Bay Area). He is an author, with his wife Jeanne, of relationship and parenting and relationship books with over one million in print.
Don has been married for over 30 years to his wife Jeanne, with two adult children and two young grandchildren.
